VENEZUELAN COMPANY "CHEROKEE WELL SERVICES, C.A.," OBTAINS IMPORTANT GAINS IN THE DRILLING OF OIL WELLS IN THE ORINOCO BORDER

With an effectiveness of 99.54 percent, measured between the amount of total feet revested with pipe (199.149) and the amount of total feet perforated (200.063), Cherokee Well Services, C.A., obtains a record of drilling permanency with no time loss, in the completion of a contract for drilling fluid services and solids control that had been granted by Pdvsa, Petróleo, S-A. Bitor,        to drill oil wells in the San Tome district, Morichal area.

The Directives of the Company and the General Manager, Juan Carlos Rodriguez, indicated that until the date, it has drilled 212.215 feet, of whom 12.152 feet,  left unrevested as a consequence of operator standards in the search of better prospective oil horizons and optimize the available resources for the next wells.   

They reaffirmed that in total were assured, through permanent piping (casing) for the construction of wells, a total of 199.149 feet, with which it obtained the record percentage mentioned above.

Before, none of the transnational companies that have operated in the area have achieved a similar record, due to loss of time as consequence of inadequate operational and technological practices, raising the clients costs.

Its important to say that Cherokee Well Services, C.A., is a Venezuelan Company, founded in 1999, with the objective of competing in the speciality of drilling fluids, work that for decades was forestalled by transnational companies  in our country, this is why first of all we proceeded to consolidate this whole experience through the venezuelan personnel who has worked in the oil industry for many years.

Oil well drilling in this area is particularly risky and complicated, because as designed, these require controlled deviations in an environment of water reactive clay in the early stages, which makes well drilling very troublesome due to pipe swelling.

Studying the different problems occured during the wells drilled in the area through the years, the group of specialsts from Cherokee Well Services, C.A., acting as a whole with the PDVSA and Intevep engineers through the proyect, designed a clay inhibitor, low cost, and friendly to the environment, helping it to achieve the drilling record for horizontal and multilateral wells, completing until this moment the 21 drilling, number of wells equivalent to 212.215 feet, without any problem of pipe getting stuck and laying the revestments to the depth programed by the PDVSA geologists.

It is important to say that the technology used by Cherokee Well Service to achieve this merit in the morichal area was designed her at home, technology from a venezuelan company, attributing this achievement to the union from the experience of an experimente human resources through the years, and a top of the line solids control.

To PDVSA and Bitor this has been a significative save of money that due to the aplication of this technology because it has reduced the well drilling time by not having operational problems plus the volume gain by putting wells to produce before the programmed date.

Its important to say that the CHEROKEE group thanks the eastern PDVSA management personnel, by giving the oportunity to develop venezuelan companies in the search and implantation of new technologies, seeing that without the oportunity to demostrate the capacity of the company such important merit would have never happened.  

This has been a demostration that in Venezuela there are companies that have the intention to do it right and that we have as a purpose to develop technologies that can solve problems in the daily drilling operations.

It was also demostrated that the experience of the companies are made by the personnel and not by the time the companies have on the market, as the transnational companies that have years operating in Venezuela made it look. This points out that the Venezuelan companies are capacitated by the high experience of the personnel in assuming higher tasks in proyects of difficult access, like the Delta platform along others.
